PLEASE NOTE, THIS IS NOT DESIGNED FOR TANK FILLING.
IT IS OUR SEDIMENT & BORE WATER FILTER THAT IS THE IDEAL FILTER FOR PRE-FILTERING AND TANK FILL USE - NOT THIS PURIFIER.
THIS IS A HIGHLY ENGINEERED PURIFIER THAT IDEALLY SHOULD BE INSTALLED UNDER YOUR SINK IN A DEDICATED COLD WATER DRINKING WATER LINE.
The highest level of protection, ideal for the caravanner, off roader, those with compromised immune systems, and young families.
✅ 7,500 Litres - please note, Purifier life is determined by a. Volume and b. Water Quality.
✅All filters and purifiers 'load' over time - this is what they are supposed to do.
✅A company that sells a filter that claims to last years and still provides protection and filtration does not understand water science.
✅ You can backwash our purifier however it is not recommended as the fibres in our Carbon Fibre Block are delicate and prone to damage is backwashed at high pressure. But, you can backwash our "5 in 1", but it is not a practice we recommend to our customers.
✅ When the flow rate from your taps starts to show signs of slowing - this is an indicating factor that it is time to change your filter.
✅ We do not shy away from what it means to replace your Thirsty Nomad purifier - to replace your Thirsty Nomad purifier is to replace the whole unit - this "is what it is" and it is part of the design of the purifier (for now) - our team is investigating the options for a refillable insert, but at this moment in time, it is not possible, and replacement filters are $195.95 as we assume you will already have the fittings.
✅ Includes all fittings, including 2 x mounting clips, 2 x 12mm Straight Push Fittings, 2 x 6mm Push Fittings (one elbow and one straight)
✅ Easy DIY installation into either 16mm PEX, 12mm, 8mm or 6mm (1/4") cold water pipe/tube via push fittings, also included
✅ Can be mounted horizontal or vertical or used inline to fill tanks - however, we are once again honest with our customers on the optimal use of our "5 in 1" purifier.
✅Purifier works at it's optimal when installed into a dedicated drinking water line, after your pump and after the hot water take-off junction. Why? You ask! Because when the purifier is used as a dedicated drinking water purifier, you get longevity out of your Thirsty Nomad "5 in 1" and you know that all the water you cook with and drink is microbiologically safe.
✅ Always install the purifier AFTER the pump. Our purifier is a very fine micron rating at just 0.001 microns - as such, our purifier works at its optimal with the aid of the pressure of a pump pushing the water through the purifier.
✅ Caravan pumps are usually 55psi, and we would encourage our customers to always go for a 55psi pump. Many van manufacturers have been cutting costs by installing <40psi pumps as standard. Quite often, 40psi is just not enough pressure to push water through our purifier and through your van's piping network and out to your faucets at a satisfactory water flow rate. However, please see our next note on our purifier installed after a standard 55psi Shuflo, FloJet or Seaflo pump.
✅ When installed in a van, ALWAYS AFTER a 55psi caravan pump, the water flow rate from our purifier will provide you with a 4 litre per minute flow rate at your shower, bathroom vanity and kitchen sink - a good flow rate for purifier performance and water saving (Note, 4L/minute flow is a 6 Star WELS Rating (Water Efficiency Labelling and Standards) which saves 105kL per year.
✅ Many people assume that the Thirsty Nomad is a "fix-all" purifier that will treat every 'variable' drop of water you encounter in your travels. Water filtration and purification is not that simple - we wish it was.
✅ Water is a highly variable and highly complex science and when camping around Australia you will more than likely be offered Bore Water.
✅ Bore Water is an excellent source of water. However bore water contains dissolved minerals of calcium, magnesium and iron which a). can make the water taste a bit "off" and b) will quickly clog the Thirsty Nomad purifier and any other brand of standard granular activated carbon filter - this is not a factor of brand, we are not criticising brand - it is a factor of fact and science.
✅Bore Water contains dissolved minerals of calcium, magnesium and iron - these minerals will oxidise and then 'mineralise' inside of granular activated carbon filters rendering them clogged and useless - and will do the same inside of the Thirsty Nomad's carbon fibre block.
✅ This is why we provide our customers with the Value Pack of the Bore Water & Sediment Filter to pre-fill and then the Purifier to "purify" at the closest point of use possible to get the most life out of your purifier.
PLEASE NOTE: Thirsty Nomad has recently updated the fittings for their products from chrome to plastic. Instructions included may still state 'chrome' fittings as they are in the process of updating all their materials.
